FUE with Manuel Extraction? or FUE with Micromotor Extraction?
Considering the world hair transplantation history, this surgical procedure, which has a background of approximately 50 years, is now applied with varied techniques and combinations, and became the leading hair loss treatment in our day.
We can examine this process under two main headings:
– FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
– FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)
Both methods provides you to have a haired appearance. However, the more preferred and used method today is FUE. The most important part of the FUE technique is the extraction. For this procedure, two different techniques can be used to extract hair follicles:
– Manuel Extraction
– Micromotor Extraction
While it is believed by some authorities that there is not much difference between these two extraction techniques, it has been proven that the Manual Extraction technique yields a much more quality and natural result.
Then what are these differences?
|Manuel Extraction||Micromotor Extraction|
|In the sitting position a comfortable operation takes place.||Takes place in the prone position.|
|Clinical follow-up can be done instantaneously (blood pressure, pulse etc.)||Your clinical follow-up cannot be done instantaneously and requires a change of position.|
|You feel safe.||There is little sense of confidence.|
|Without giving any fluids to your subcutaneous tissue, your best quality hair roots are extracted through their natural directions.||Fluids are injected to inflate your subcutaneous tissue in order to obtain ease of operation and the extraction is made through the speed micromotor.|
|The amount of local anesthesia used is less compared to micromotor.|
|No antibiotic use required after the operation.||High likelihood of antibiotic use after the operation.|
|It allows the use of the entire donor area (the haired area of extraction at the back of the head) (Temporal, Parietal, Occipital)
Since the entire donor area is used with an even distribution, post-operative appearance is natural and has high coverage.
|It allows only the use of the back and upper ear parts of the donor area, which are Occipital and Parietal.
Due to the limited usage of the area, post-operative appearance is far from natural and not homogeneous.
|By choosing your most suitable grafts (hair follicles) that are extracted with instant control, using the entire donor area, for your forehead front line; the most natural result is obtained.||Since the choice of grafts for your frontal hairline is limited, your post-operative haired appearance is noticeable and unnatural.|
|Since you are in the sitting position during the operation, you can do your activities such as TV, telephone, computer, books, business contacts etc.
During the procedure, you can have fluid supplements and have snacks.
|Since you are in the prone position, you cannot do any activities.
Since your position is not appropriate, you cannot eat or drink, and your body resistance may be reduced.
|Allows quick action in case of an emergency In an emergency||the process slows down as position change is required.|
As noted above, the differences between the two methods are too many to ignore.
However, all of us have the following question in mind:
Why do most clinics (90%) make hair transplantation with Micromotor Extraction?
Today’s leading hair loss treatment at clinics; hair transplantation procedure, has a serious financial return, and hence patient = money approach is common.
In other words, higher processing speed leads to higher number of patients.
There are, of course, experienced clinics obtaining good results using micromotor, but the results are not as good as the manual extraction. Therefore, the procedure technique for your hair, which will be accompanying you throughout your life, is very significant. Because your hair reflects you!
